The oars I developed at Grapeview Point Boat Works are once again in production!
I have led the small craft construction and restoration program at the Gig Harbor BoatShop for many years, and have personally trained a small crew there to take over making these oars.
They are using the same patterns, gauges and tools, and the oars have the same features and use the same materials. The only difference is the new logo on the blades.
Please direct order inquiries to the Gig Harbor BoatShop at Spoon Blade Oar Project.
I am very pleased to have these oars available again and am happy to answer any questions you may have about them. See contact info at the top of the page.
-Tom
They are now being made at the Gig Harbor BoatShop under the direction of Tom Regan.
Each oar is hand-crafted from spar grade Sitka spruce.
We finish our oars by hand-applying six coats of a high quality spar varnish.
We add weights in the grip for greater balance and ease of rowing.
We use premium leather for chafe-resistance and protection.
